John is Chairman of Cording Group and has thirty-five years of experience in investment markets. He spent thirteen years as an equity fund manager before founding Morgan Grenfell Property Asset Management (latterly Deutsche Property Asset Management and then RREEF) in 1989, creating a series of UK property specialist sector funds.
He then became a director of the property forecasting and strategy firm, Real Estate Strategy Limited, before that business was placed into a joint venture with Henderson in 1993 to create a new property fund management business. He became Head of Property when Henderson was merged with AMP Asset Management, building and overseeing a global property investment business with operations in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific, with a global range of investment products.
John then set up the independent fiduciary brand Cordea Savills in 2003 and had overall responsibility for the forming of a pan-European business through the creation of a suite of property funds, including specialist and diversified UK funds, specialist retail funds and pan-European funds. Savills acquired the management’s equity interest in Cordea Savills in 2010.
Richard is an Independent Advisor to Cording, assisting in the direction and development of the group and reviewing investment strategies. Richard has over 30 years experience investing in commercial property and establishing commercial property investment funds. In 1990 Richard helped establish Morgan Grenfell Property Asset Management. Under Richard's leadership MGPAM's funds were among the best performing in their peer group. Prior to that, Richard held management positions at Surelodge Investments, a private property company, The Law Land Company Plc, Churchbury Estates Plc and Greycoat Plc.
René de Heus
Head of Investment Benelux
René has worked in the Benelux real estate market for over 15 years. He previously worked in the banking sector where he was responsible for disposing of commercial real estate portfolios in the Netherlands.
Prior to that he was responsible for the acquisitions and disposals of the Cromwell property group throughout Benelux with a special focus on logistics and (multi-let) light industrial.
René has executed over € 2 billion transactions in The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg in offices, logistics & (light) industrial sectors.
René holds a master degree in Real Estate from Amsterdam University and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He is also a member of Cording's Investment and Risk Committee.
Head of Fund Management Germany
Felix is Head of Fund Management, Germany, at Cording and is responsible for portfolio management in the German market.
Felix has been with Cording since 2014. He initially worked in the transaction area, then moved to fund management where, prior to being appointed Head of Fund Management, Germany, he held the position of Associate Director. He has over ten years' experience in the real estate and consulting sector. Among other positions, he was previously an associate at Morgan Stanley Real Estate.
Felix holds a degree in economics from the University of Hohenheim.
Head of UK and UK Investment
Mark is a founder of Cording Real Estate Group and is Head of Investment. He is responsible for formulating and implementing investment strategies for clients and working with the fund managers and their asset and property management teams. He is a member of Cording's Investment and Risk Committee.
Mark has worked in the UK commercial property investment market since joining Jones Lang Wootton as a graduate in 1983. He left to become a founder of Millar Kitching in the early 1990's which became a successful advisory business specialising in investment and asset management. The business transacted over £3.5bn of investments and had over £1.6bn of properties under management on behalf of institutional and family office clients. The business was sold in 2005.
Head of Investment Germany
Stephan is Head of Investment, Germany, with responsibility for investments and portfolio management in the German market.
Stephan has worked in real estate asset management for 13 years and benefits from a wide experience in investment and portfolio management. Prior to joining Cording, Stephan worked at AEW (formerly known as Curzon) in London between 2007 and 2011 as Director of Investment. In this role he successfully sourced and executed various pan-European acquisitions. Before Curzon he worked for two years at Henderson Global Investors in London and six years for Invesco (formerly known as HVB REAM) in Munich.
Stephan has executed transactions in Germany, France, UK, The Netherlands, Greece and Spain in the office, retail and logistic sectors. During his time at Invesco Stephan was the fund manager of an ‘Immobilien-Spezialfonds’ (German regulated vehicle for institutional investors).
Head of Fund Management
Theo has more than 25 years experience in international capital markets and Real Estate investment management. He has established the real estate investment management business of ING Real Estate in Paris from 2000 until 2008. He returned to the Netherlands and established his own advisory business working for institutional investors in refinancing and restructuring over the last 10 years. Theo joined Cording in April 2018 to lead the fund management role throughout Cording.
Theo has managed two European logistics and industrial funds for ING Real Estate totaling € 1.5 billion assets under management in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands.
Theo holds a master degree in Economics from Free University in Amsterdam.
Theo is a member of Cording's Investment and Risk Committee.
Head of Business Development
Reiner is based in Frankfurt and is responsible for the development and distribution of products. He has 16 years of experience in structuring and placing real estate funds and investments.
Previously Reiner was the Head of Product Development at MGPA (formerly Macquarie Global Property Advisors) in London. From 2006 to 2008 Reiner worked at UBS Global Asset Management in London in the development of a number of international real estate funds and was the product manager for two continental European real estate funds with over €3 billion assets under management.
From 2001 to 2005 he worked at Henderson Global Investors in Frankfurt and London in the Business Development area, where he structured and placed real estate investments with German institutional investors.
Head of Product Development
Bill is Head of Product Development since February 2019. He joined Cording in early 2013 as the group's Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for Cording’s operational platform. He chairs Cording’s Investment and Risk Committee.
He has been working in investment markets since 1987. Bill spent 16 years with Morgan Grenfell and Deutsche Bank, the majority of which was with Deutsche Property Asset Management (latterly RREEF, now DWS). Bill was a Managing Director of Deutsche Bank and was DePAM’s Chief Operating Officer. He joined the Savills Group in 2003 to assist in the formation and management of Cordea Savills, as Chief Operating Officer and member of Cordea Savills LLP. During Bill’s tenure with Cordea Savills (now Savills IM), he oversaw the development of their pan-European platform, and the creation and management of several funds and vehicles with sector and/or geographic focuses. Bill was also a permanent member of Cordea Savills’ Investment and Risk Committee, and Managing Director of Cordea Savills’ FSA regulated businesses.
Head of Investor Relations
Naomi Vlakancic is Head of Investor Relations at Cording and part of the Business Development team. Based in London she is responsible for developing and implementing investor relations activities across the business. Naomi has extensive experience of client and fund reporting, on-boarding investors into funds and responding to investor questionnaires. She also supports the development and marketing process for new and open-ended investment vehicles. Naomi joined Cording in March 2018 from Savills Investment Management, where she worked in a similar role for over 14 years. Prior to that Naomi was with Henderson Global Investors (now TH Real Estate).
Associate Director, Asset Management UK
Adam is an Associate Director of UK Asset Management at Cording, where he is responsible for adding value through implementation of a range of strategies. He also works closely with the Investment Management team to identify opportunities; undertaking due diligence and transactional work to ensure successful mandates from inception to realisation.
Adam began his career at Savills before moving to undertake a JV role alongside Goldman Sachs, undertaking the asset management and ultimate disposal of c. £400m worth of UK Real Estate. Adam joined Cording Real Estate Group in June 2016. He holds a DipHE in Economics from the University of Reading and a degree in Property and Urban Development from Westminster University. Adam is a Chartered Surveyor.
Siegfried C. Fernitz
Head of Asset Management Germany
Siegfried joined Cording in early 2014 and is responsible for asset management in Germany. He began his real estate career more than 27 years ago in the international investment departments of DTZ and Jones Lang Wootton in Frankfurt. Subsequently, Siegfried joined Arthur Andersen as a manager in its Real Estate Services Group.
Since 1999, he has established and managed the German operations of various Anglo-Saxon real estate investment groups where he has asset managed in excess of one thousand properties.
In his career, Siegfried has also acted on behalf of major institutional German clients including Deutsche Bank, Münchener Rück, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, DEGI, Difa and Commerz Leasing. In 2011, he founded the real estate investment firm Target.
Head of Germany
Alfred Garbe manages the German business from Frankfurt and is responsible for optimising existing German mandates and increasing assets under management in Germany.
Alfred Garbe is a proven expert for light industrial properties and logistics real estate and was Director - Head of Logistics at Corpus Sireo before joining Cording. Further positions in the career of the graduate business economist included Co-Head of Asset Management at M7 Real Estate and Head of Asset Management Germany at Hansteen.
Head of Benelux
Onno Scheij heads the Benelux team from Cording's Amsterdam office.
Onno began his career in 1993 in property management at De Boer Den Hartog Hooft (currently Bilfinger) in Amsterdam. In his last role he was Business Unit Manager, Commercial Real Estate. In 2000 he moved to VIB (later Corio) where he was responsible for a portfolio of industrial and office properties in the Netherlands, and was Head of Valuations.
Onno established the Amsterdam office of Horizon Netherlands in 2004 and was responsible for all Dutch activities, initially on an exclusive basis for Deka Immobilien but later also for clients such as BlackRock, AEW & Akron. From 2012, Horizon Netherlands widened its exposure to the Benelux as asset and investment manager on behalf of TH Real Estate and Warburg-Henderson. Onno’s primary expertise is in asset and investment management of offices, logistics and retail property. Onno has a university degree in Business Economics and a Master’s degree in Real Estate.
Director of Property Management UK
Toby joined Cording in early 2012 and is responsible for our UK property managers.
He started his career and early training at Chesterton Plc. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor whilst with SBM Ltd (latterly SBM Corporate Real Estate) where he worked for several years providing strategic real estate advice to a range of corporate clients. In 2002 Toby joined Knight Frank where he subsequently spent 10 years managing commercial property across different sectors. He was responsible for looking after mixed use portfolios located throughout the UK on behalf of both funds and private clients.
Head of Property Management, Germany
Frank Ritschek is Head of Property Management in Germany. He joined Cording in 2013 as part of Cording’s merger with Marstall Verwaltungsgesellschaft in Germany where is had been a Managing Director since 1995. Based out of Stuttgart, Frank manages the property management operations as well as the technical management of Cording in Germany and additionally oversees the generation and implementation of all value add initiatives for clients. With a keen eye for detail, Frank likes to get his hands dirty and is active in the day-to-day management of many of Cording’s clients. A keen sportsman, Frank studied Economics and Sports at Bayreuth and worked in Event and Project Management between 1991 and 1995. He was involved in projects such as the IAAF World Championships 1993, Eurocard Open and the Eurobowl Final.
Head of UK Property Accounting
Suzy McNally joined Cording in 2009 and is head of the UK Property Management Accounts team. Suzy has worked in property management accounts for over 25 years having started her career at Chesterton in 1987. At Chesterton she worked on the Church Commissioners residential portfolio before leaving after 5 years to gain commercial property experience at Hillier Parker where she was responsible for the property accounting for clients including Royal Sun Alliance and Prudential.
In 1997 she joined a new commercial property practice specialising in shopping centre management – ACR Commercial Property. When the company was sold to GVA Grimley in 2005, ACR had under management 22 shopping centres, for clients including British Land, Standard Life and Tesco. Suzy joined Hammond Phillips in December 2007 becoming head of management accounts in September 2008.
Head of Technical Management Germany
Gerhard Müller is Head of Technical Management and an authorised officer (Procurist) of Cording Real Estate Group GmbH. He has over 35 years of experience and is an expert on technical property matters.
From 1984 to 1994 he gained experience as a manager at IHM Ingenieurgesellschaft für Haus- und Meßtechnik. In 1995 he joined Marstall Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (now Cording), to assist with the development of the company and its technical management platform.
Director of Residential Development and Asset Management
Tim is Director of Residential Development and Asset Management at Cording, overseeing project delivery, property management and lettings. He is focused on ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and on time.
Before jointly founding Capres with Charlie Miller, Tim was an executive director at two of the largest affordable housing groups, Home Group and Places for People, where he was involved in setting up the group’s PRS companies, later joining Network Housing Group in 2005.
Tim holds the MCIOB and an MSc in Project Management from the University of Greenwich.
Director of Residential Transactions
Charlie is Director of Residential Transactions at Cording, responsible for sourcing PRS opportunities and has more than 20 years’ experience acquiring, planning and carrying out residential-led urban regeneration project in London and across the UK.
Prior to joining Cording, Charlie was responsible for driving the acquisitions forward for London & Stamford‘s £350 million residential portfolio four years ago and he has recently acquired for investors, a £80 million BTR project in Harrow and a 350 unit scheme in Denham.
Charlie is a fellow of RICS.
Senior Project Manager, Construction
John Molloy is Senior Project Manager, Construction, at Cording’s London office. His responsibilities include project management of the Saffron Court PRS development in Nottingham. He joined Cording from CRL, where he was a Risk Management/Warranty Surveyor responsible for carrying out inspections on a diverse range of sites. Prior to that, John was a Project Manager at Kerin Contract Management in Ireland. His previous experience includes working at the Network Housing Group where he managed teams of consultants. John is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (MCABE).
Head of Delivery, UK Residential
Kate Thomson is Head of Delivery, UK Residential at Cording.
Kate has more than 20 years’ experience of managing large-scale housing developments across southern England. Prior to joining Cording she was Head of Development South (New Projects) at Clarion Housing Group, where she was responsible for heading development teams and working with internal and external stakeholders, including developers, contractors, consultants, local authorities and Homes England.
Previously she occupied similar positions at Network Housing Group and the Home Group, having begun her career at Places for People.
Kate Thomson holds a degree and a CNAA Diploma in Town Planning.
As portfolio manager, Fabian is responsible for the portfolio management of Cording’s PRS transactions.
Prior to Cording, he worked within Corporate Finance at KPMG LLP with a particular focus on the Housebuilding and Build To Rent sectors, working alongside investors seeking programmatic joint venture partnerships. He was also previously an Investment Analyst and Valuer for Savills within the Housing Division, providing specialist valuation advice (ground rents/shared ownership/shared equity/PFI/equity release plans) to registered social landlords, local authorities and senior lenders. Before that, Fabian worked at Aviva Investors as an Assistant Fund Manager on the Encore+ open-ended pan European Fund.
Fabian earned a PgDip in Property Valuation, Law and Real Estate from City University. He is also a fellow of RICS.
Chief Financial Officer
Jürgen Grieb is Chief Financial Officer. Jürgen has extensive experience with a number of real estate funds where he set up the accounting and operating functions, built up and managed teams as well as implemented accounting and controlling systems.
From 2005 until 2008 Jürgen Grieb was responsible for the areas of fund accounting, controlling, reporting and tax at the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investment GmbH, which had over €2 billion of real estate assets under management globally.
Previous to that he headed the area of fund operations at TMW Pramerica. From 2001 to 2004 he was responsible for finance and controlling in the German based team at Henderson Global Investors. From 1992 until 2001 Jürgen Grieb worked for a German subsidiary of the Precision Valve Corporation where he headed the accounting function.
