The mission of Funding Affordable Homes:
"To support the affordable housing sector in the UK, to increase the number of affordable homes, deliver positive social value and provide attractive, stable and progressive returns to investors."
In July 2019, Cording was appointed property advisor to Funding Affordable Homes. Funding Affordable Homes is a social impact investment company investing in UK government regulated affordable housing. Funding Affordable Homes invests directly in affordable homes typically taking a freehold interest and working across different strategies to enhance diversification and broaden the social delivery.
Working in partnership with housing associations, local authorities, house builders and developers, Funding Affordable Homes is building a large diversified portfolio of freehold properties offering economies of scale and future value enhancement and realisation. The team is continually seeking opportunities across the tenure mix in affordable housing.
Case Study: Development of 173 affordable homes, London
Funding Affordable Homes have exchanged contracts for the acquisition of 173 affordable homes in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Completion is expected in February 2020. Although the London Borough of Tower Hamlets has the largest proportion of social housing in the country, it continues to face considerable challenges in meeting the housing needs of its current and future population profile. This investment provides much needed homes to individuals or families on the Borough’s waiting list, including opportunities for those on intermediate incomes who are able to access property investment through a shared ownership home.
2018 Social Impact Report
As a social impact investor, Funding Affordable Homes has adopted a Social Performance Assessment Framework, devised by The Good Economy Partnership, for the evaluation of all projects.
